studio 1: fundamentals
The main project of this studio is the “Backpack Project” in which we are assigned six different bags to create out of just cardboard and tape.
The point of the mapping project was to create a map and a location that was important to us, and then recreate it in many different forms. The final product was made of paper, in which we created multiple trials to find the correct pattern for our piece.
Backpack #1:
The third week of this project we were assigned to create three mini backpacks that had similarities to them. My similarities were the handles and straps — each of them were fish-braided cardboard.
Backpack #2, 3 & 4:
Bag number five was with a new partner. My partner and I decided we wanted to think more outside the box than previous bags and we wanted to create something that held things, but wasn’t necessarily a “bag”. That is how we came up with the belt & boot compartments. These little holders were meant to attach to each other and then be able to attach to a belt of boots.

Backpack #7:
Bag number seven was my last bag of the semester. This bag was inspired by rolling bags, so I created wheels for the bag to be pulled. The bag also has a geometric shape in order for this bag to fold easy for storage space.
